Working with the Canon C300

It appears that everyone wants to work with the Canon C300 camera. From realities to documentaries to even some low budget "Musical Videos". It does make sense. It is affordable and with a huge selection of Canon lenses, the image quality / price relationship is unsurpassable. Just waiting for my housing....

The CANON C300 is an awesome little camera. When used handheld, my only recommendation is to use a cage or a handheld rig so there is no chance to push buttons by mistake.

NEW MEXICO

After working in foreign countries for the last 26 years, I have decided to return states side. The very unsafe environment overseas due to the forever present kidnapping threat, the political and economic uncertainty, and the overall deteriorated conditions prompted my decision. I will still be working as a Freelance Cinematographer with my regular loyal old clients like international production company TAXI FILMS, friends like JWT and LEO BURNET advertising firms and many others, for assigments only. Hoping also to make new clients here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Recently, people have asked me about doing underwater cinematography and photography in New Mexico. One important fact that most people do not know is that underwater cinematography and photography productions are done in controlled environments like swimming pools and tanks. Having Albuquerque pools and movie studios where tanks can easily be assembled and tax incentives, there is no reason to go somewhere else.

Underwater Film Production in New Mexico

Freshwater Dolphins (Toninas)

It is very rare than on a shoot I have the time to take pictures of the location,

the set, or myself. As a consequence of this fact, there is very little material of me

and my work except of what I shoot for my clients which normally keep everything.

In the time when we were shooting film, I just turned the cans

of expose film and would never even see the material after that since it would

go to foreign nations. On this rare occasion I had the wonderful opportunity to take

pictures of these animals. The Freshwater Dolphin.

In the murky waters of the Orinoco river and it's tributaries lives a fascinating mammal.

The freshwater dolphin or "Toninas" as they are called by the people of the area.

These animals are incredibly intelligent, curious, playful and the time

I was able to spend with them while taking these pictures,

is a treasured memory that will keep very close to my heart.

New 17th Century Wreck

found in Venezuela.

Fishermen at an undisclosed beach in Venezuela reported to have seen other fishermen retrieve from a sunken ship seven (07) bronze cannons this past October 2006. An ongoing investigation by the Venezuelan authorities discovered that one cannon was sold to a scrap metal company and it was melted for its weight in bronze. The other six cannons were sold to particulars that wanted to keep the cannons as souvenirs. The Venezuelan law prohibits any negotiations with this kind of archeological patrimony since by law it belongs to the Venezuelan Nation.

Two of the cannons have been retrieved by the Venezuelan authorities but four are missing. Any information that anyone might have will be welcome. Please contact the Venezuelan Institute of Historical Patrimony at 0058-212-482.4317 or INTERPOL in your Country of origen.

Venezuela's lead in the TV Drama production in Latin America is second to none. Here it is RCTV newest drama with Flavia Gleske at Los Roques.

Bonaire, Netherland Antilles 2004

The idea about going to Bonaire on an Inflatable Boat (dinghy) was roaming for sometime in my head, so when the opportunity to do a "DEMO" on Bonaire came along.........It was the trip of a lifetime. 112 Nautical Miles of open Caribbean Sea from the small port of Ocumare in Venezuela to Bonaire.

The opportunity to work with Actress / beautifull model Ruddy Rodriguez was given to us by the production of a TV movie called "Maria Lionza". The movie produced by RCTV was shot in many locations throughout Venezuela. It was an incredible experience to work underwater with snakes, crocs and turtles. Ruddy, professional as always loved the animals and the animals loved her back. When you work with a 50 kgs / 3 mt (11 foot) long Piton its not easy but the animals loved the camera.

After shooting for Revlon again, we had the opportunity to do splash camera for a beer Commercial. "La Catira Regional". Splash camera of a surfer at Playa Los Caracas.

Again we went east to the Islands off the coast of Venezuela. This time to Frailes Islands where we did another chapter of "Bitacora" travel series with Valentina Quintero. It was a blast. Although water at one site was not the best since it had been raining heavily, at other sites within the Island chain the fauna and water visibility was incredible. It was pleasing to us see many European sailing boat tourist visiting the area, since Venezuela was not getting good publicity lately.
